Summary

Tilt Switch is a point-level detection sensor that is generally used for upper limit detection of bulk solid materials by the mechanical tilting of a sensing probe. When bulk solids contact the probe, the probe tilts from its normal position, actuating an internal switch to provide an ON/OFF level signal.

Benefits

Suitable for lump materials

The robust structure ensures reliable detection for lump materials which may get damage for a rotary paddle switch or capacitance level switch.

Reliable detection even with buildup

The gravity-based mechanical operating principle is not affected by material adhesion or buildup and ensures stable level detection.

Unaffected by material properties

Stable detection for such material which dielectric constant is low or varies and may make the detection by a capacitance level switch unstable.

Features

Robust Structure

Tilt Switch Features

The sensor part is fully enclosed in the robust diecasting probe and has high durability against physical shock, material adhesion, high temperature, dust, vapor, etc.

Versatile for Bulk Solids

Tilt Switch Features

Standard tilt switch is applicable to bulk solids which particle size is 30mm or over and bulk density is 1.0 or over.

Cross paddle option is ready for bulk solids lower than bulk density 1.0 (but over 0.6).

Simple Principle

Tilt Switch Features

Simple principle by the mechanical tilting of the probe is free from any troubles caused by electrical characteristic of material such as dielectric constant, conductivity, etc.

Operating Principle

Tilt switch operates on a simple mechanical principle using gravity.

The sensing probe is suspended in a normal vertical position and the conduction between A-B is close circuit (NC).

When bulk solid material reaches the probe, the material exerts a force that causes the probe to tilt and the conduction between A-B becomes open circuit (NO).

When the material level falls, the probe returns to its original position by gravity, resetting the switch.
