Summary

Capacitance Level Switch is a point-level detection sensor that detects the presence or absence of material by measuring changes in capacitance between the detecting probe and the vessel wall. When the material reaches the probe and the dielectric constant around the probe changes, it provides ON/OFF level detection signal for liquids or solids.

Operating Principle

Capacitance level switch operates by measuring the change in capacitance between its sensing probe and the vessel wall, which act as two electrodes of a capacitor.

When material approaches or contacts the probe, the dielectric constant of the surrounding medium increases, causing a measurable rise in capacitance.

The electronics continuously monitors this change and triggers a switching output once the capacitance exceeds a preset threshold.

This principle enables reliable level detection for liquids, slurries and bulk solids, independent of pressure or temperature variations.
